Hejaz Proverbs is an iOS app that makes it super easy to find proverbs that are local to the Hejaz region of Saudi Arabia, using a quick search, and easy to use index. The app is based on a book, which is the product of more than 20 years of research into Hejazi culture and customs by author Fareed Abdulhameed Salamah. Pixel Munch was hired to work on the design of the app, including wireframing, user flows, and user interface design.
Hejaz Proverbs was developed by Quad Dimensions Tech, a company that has been working hard to make their presence known in the industry. I worked with QDimensions to come up with a great-looking and usable interface for the app. The two main features are searching and sharing proverbs, so those needed to be rock-solid; speedy and usable. The company also stressed the value of great interaction and visual design. The visual design needed to communicate a traditional Hejazi feel, this is the reason behind the app’s heavy use of texture and earth-tones.
This project was challenging and fun, and the app was launched to great reception from users and local tech bloggers.
